Berlin-based architecture office Raumlabor has built a public sauna, a place for relaxation and socialization for the occupants of Frihamnen, one of the harbor areas of the Swedish city Gothenburg.
The industrial-looking structure produces the sensation of something that could naturally belong to the harbor site. It features a weathered metal exterior which hides a comfortable warm timber-lined interior.
The building is raised up over the water and accessed through a wooden bridge.
The sauna building has won the SAVG Architecture Award 2015 (Swedish Association of Architects Gothenburg Region).
