With an experience of over 20 years in paper sculptures, Canadian artist Calvin Nicholls transforms ordinary sheets of paper into incredibly detailed 3D animal sculptures.
To create this delicate multi-layered paper sculptures, Nicholls uses a drawing as a pattern for the various components. Using an X-ACTO knife, scalpels, and scissors, he carefully cuts pieces of paper and glues them in place.
Each piece can take anywhere from a few weeks up to two years to be completed, depending on scale and complexity.
You can see hundreds of additional pieces on Nicholls’s website.
