American photographer Nick Brandt has created a series of photographs titled ‘Inherit the Dust‘, through which he explores the massive urban sprawl and the deterioration of wild habitats in East Africa.

Factories, garbage dumps, and quarries rapidly extend and replace what should be a natural environment for the African wildlife.

The destruction of the natural world was occurring at an alarming rate — faster than my already pessimistic imagination could have anticipated“, Brandt told to an online publication.

To create his stunning yet disturbing series, Brandt used life-size prints of the animals that were then transferred to giant panels and elevated in these landscapes transformed by man.
