North Carolina-based artist Yumi Okita creates amazing textile sculptures depicting colourful moths, butterflies and other insects.

Okita’s creations are made by hand using fabric, cotton, fake fur, fabric paint, embroidery thread, wire, and feathers. They are quite larger than real insects, some of them measuring nearly a foot in width.

Okita’s pieces are inspired from the reality of nature and manipulated into the world of imagination, keeping a fine balance between artistry and realism.

If you want to have your own winged sculpture, check out Yumi’s Etsy shop.
